This specific page is the requests page for the Illustration Workshop. Anyone can make a request for an illustration to be created or improved. The standard format for making a request is shown below, along with general advice, and should be followed.

Design of Lawrence Oates' sledge flag

Request: Could somebody please create an SVG file of the sledging flag which was designed for Lawrence Oates prior to the Terra Nova Expedition but without actually ever being manufactured for him to use during said expedition (hence the need for "Design of" in the file name), as seen and described in detail (in the "Full description" section) here? Request: I have recently visited the en:Bangladesh Military Museum, where insignias of various formations and ranks were displayed. However, I have not uploaded those images to Wikimedia Commons due to uncertainty about their copyright status. Creating SVG versions of these insignias (and corresponding flags where applicable) would be valuable additions to Commons. Graphist opinion(s): Hello, Tausheef Hassan. I agree that these images would be valuable for Commons; however —

Regarding the copyright concerns, please refer to Commons:Copyright rules by territory/Bangladesh and determine the photographs' copyright status. If your jpg photos are subject to copyright concerns, vectorizing them into SVGs are not going to magically lift the copyright restrictions.
This is a loaded request of 50 - 60 images at once, with varying complexities. Most of them are not mere simple geometric shapes, but with complex vehicles / weapons / animals involved.
Some of the images in your Google Drive is not properly labeled. This makes it extremely hard to identify which badge belongs to which troop, or what text to put on the badges.
Some of the images are taken with light source not so ideal, making it hard to discern the details (reflections, over/under exposure).

The best way to make us graphists take the "bait" and do the vectorization is to verify their copyright status, clean up the images (adjusting exposure level, crop, etc), organize them, and upload the individual badges to Commons. Some people in Commons:Graphic Lab/Photography workshop may be able to assist with certain steps here. Then launch a request for them in multiple different batches, with about 5 badges per request.

In addition to the 1960 flag (File:Flag of the British Virgin Islands (1960–1999).svg) the Governor's flag (File:Flag of the Governor of the British Virgin Islands (1960–1999).svg) and the 1956 flag (File:Flag of the British Virgin Islands (1956–1960).svg) should also be vectorized. @Snow Lion Fenian In addition, I also found a webpage that actually has the old red ensign from 1960 to 1999. If you look carefully, this coat of arms is slightly smaller than the current 1999 version, and it does not have the white edge of the current 1999 version. This original image is the emblem of the Mordovian ASSR, but the corresponding SVG vector version is missing. The national emblem of the Mordovian ASSR is actually exactly the same as the national emblem of the Checheno-Ingush ASSR, only the republic names and mottos are different.
This is the national emblem of the Checheno-Ingush ASSR. It is recommended to create the national emblem of the Mordovian ASSR's SVG vector image based on this file.

The vectorized flag should be based on this SVG file, replacing the peacock pattern on the disc with the special region's emblem. The length-to-width ratio of this flag is exactly correct.

Request to correct the motto text in the national emblem of the Karakalpak ASSR.

The language of the motto on the right side of this emblem should be Karakalpak, not Russian. The word "ПРОЛЕТАРИИ ВСЕХ СТРАН," in the upper right corner should be changed to the word "БАРЛЫҚ ЕЛЛЕРДИҢ ПРОЛЕТАРЛАРЫ,", the word "СОЕДИНЯЙТЕСЬ!" in the lower right corner should be changed to the word "БИРЛЕСИҢИЗ!", and other content remains unchanged. This is the original JPG image but there is no corresponding SVG vector image.
I propose to make a vectorized national emblem of Kalmykia ASSR (1940–1943, 1958–1978) based on this SVG vector image of the Crimean ASSR national emblem. At the same time, all the state name texts on the shield and all the motto text on the cloth strip below, except the five Cyrillic letters "РСФСР" at the top, were removed and replaced with the state name texts and motto texts in the Kalmyk ASSR national emblem. The format and typesetting shall be based on all the texts on the Kalmyk ASSR emblem.
This is the version of the national emblem of Kalmyk ASSR after 1978. All the text above the shield and all the motto text on the strip below should be extracted intact from this emblem and transplanted into a new SVG file based on the national emblem of Crimean ASSR.

This is the original GIF image I newly uploaded, but the existing ~~PNG image~~ and ~~SVG vector image~~ on Wikimedia Commons have many serious bugs. Therefore, I personally recommend remaking the SVG vector image of the Chuvash ASSR national emblem based on the Udmurt ASSR national emblem and uploading it as a new file, rather than modifying and overwriting the ~~original SVG vector image~~ of the Chuvash ASSR national emblem.
A new SVG vector image should be made based on this vector image of the emblem of the Udmurt ASSR.
